The Hargrave Falcons will head out to challenge the Shepherd Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hargrave is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Hargrave had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Hardin-Jefferson on Tuesday. The Falcons blew past the Hawks 15-2. The victory was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on three straight.
Kendall Padgett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Brooke Edevold was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Harley Juarez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
Hargrave always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2025.
Meanwhile, Shepherd came up short against Liberty on Tuesday and fell 6-1. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Shepherd's loss dropped their record down to 13-7-1. As for Hargrave, their record now sits at 15-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Hargrave hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Shepherd struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Hargrave couldn't quite finish off Shepherd in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 and fell 3-1. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
