Basketball Recap: Valhalla Sets Scoring Season-High Against Monte Vista

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valhalla). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Monte Vista Monarchs 61-29. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Norsemen have posted since January 16, 2024.

Valhalla's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chanel Akka, who went 10 for 20 en route to 22 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Miles, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten assists.

Valhalla was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Valhalla's victory bumped their record up to 2-12. As for Monte Vista, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season.

Valhalla will head out to take on El Cajon Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. El Cajon Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season. As for Monte Vista, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mission Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
