Bixby took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Muskogee, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Roughers on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted against the Roughers since September 23, 2019.

Addison Shannon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Bixby's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kinley Marshall, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. That's the most hits Marshall has posted since back in August. Another was Brynlynn Sullivan, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Bixby's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Muskogee, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Bixby is taking a road trip to challenge Charles Page at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Muskogee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Red Oak at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Roughers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
