Edwards County has gone 8-1 against Cisne recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Runnin' Lions at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Edwards County has four straight wins, Cisne has 16 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Edwards County is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since May 14, 2025 on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Newton 2-1.
Evan Rhodes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jax Duncan, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March of 2025.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Cisne's offense. They fell just short of Odin/Patoka/Sandoval by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. Runnin' Lions fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Eagles since Tuesday.
Cisne saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Spitzner, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Edwards County's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Cisne, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-17.
Edwards County's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Lions have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Cisne, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Edwards County continue to outrun the ball?
Edwards County skirted past Cisne 7-6 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Runnin' Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
