The Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits pushed their score all the way to 65 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lynwood. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (59), Long Beach Poly still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Long Beach Poly saw an underclassman step up: Bailey Prewitt dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Prewitt has scored all season. Andrea Perkins was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Long Beach Poly were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lynwood only racked up five assists.
Taliyah Mcferson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lynwood, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shanilah Ewing, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Long Beach Poly's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Lynwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-11 record this season.
Long Beach Poly will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodrow Wilson at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Woodrow Wilson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 687th, while Long Beach Poly is ranked 90th). As for Lynwood, they will head out on the road to square off against Gahr at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
