McDonough extended their losing streak to nine on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-13. They lost 25-4 to the Hampton Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 back in August.
Audrianna Bennett made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and earned one RBI, one run, and three stolen bases.
As for Hampton, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 3-11 record. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
On Hampton's side, Catherine Court made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Court was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August.
In other batting news, Hampton got a massive performance out of Ashlynne Wrye, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. What's more, Wrye posted two hits, the most she's had since back in August. Another player making a difference was Briana Peugnet, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.
Coming up, McDonough will face off against Stockbridge at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.09 runs per game on average), something the Warhawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hampton, they will welcome Eagle's Landing at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.22 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
