Nute hasn't had much luck against Epping recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rams will welcome the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Wednesday, Nute needed a bit of extra time to put away Concord Christian. They skirted past the Kingsmen 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted against the Kingsmen since May 1, 2024.
Brody Leeman and Cooper Janis were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Leeman pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Janis tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. Leeman is becoming a predictor of Nute's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). At the plate, Leeman went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Janis went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Janis is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brandon Bilodeau, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Nute is 2-1 when Bilodeau posts three or more hits, but 4-6 otherwise.
Nute kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Epping posted their closest victory since June 11, 2025 on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Portsmouth Christian Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Devils.
Seth Lecuyer made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Chase Kukesh was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was William Ciriello, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Nute's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Epping, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Nute has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Epping struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Nute might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Epping when the teams last played back in April. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
