The Wynot Blue Devils will venture away from home to take on the Homer Knights on Tuesday. Wynot is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season.
Wynot is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Osmond: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Blue Devils blew the Tigers out of the water with a 53-24 final score. The win was nothing new for the Blue Devils as they're now sitting on three straight.
Kenna Oligmueller had another great game (as she tends to do), going 6-for-10 en route to 12 points and six steals. Oligmueller is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Addison Sharpe, who posted 14 points.
Wynot was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Homer's strategy against Winside on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Knights blew the Wildcats out of the water with a 65-32 final score. The contest marked the Knights' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Wynot better focus on containing Janessa Overgaard and Lilly Harris as the pair were huge in Homer's win. Overgaard dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 boards, while Harris had 18 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Those 15 points gave Overgaard a new career-high. Jovee Valentin was another key player, putting up five points and six rebounds.
Wynot's record now sits at 3-1. As for Homer, their record is now an identical 3-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Wynot has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 22.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Homer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Wynot might still be hurting after the 62-36 defeat they got from Homer when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
