Baseball Recap: Saint Mary's Find Success

While Saint Mary put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Pinole Valley. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Spartans 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted against the Spartans since April 13, 2022.

Logan Donoviel was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Donoviel wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Damien Nolan, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases.

The win made it two in a row for Saint Mary's and bumps their season record up to 9-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Pinole Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

Coming up, Saint Mary's will host Albany at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pinole Valley, they will head out to take on Pittsburg at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
