Baseball Recap: Olympian Wins Going Away Against Hoover

Olympian's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Hoover Cardinals as they made off with a 13-6 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Luke Hill was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two).

In other batting news, Daniel Rodriguez was a standout: he scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaac Mendoza, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Olympian pushed their record up to 8-2-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Hoover, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Olympian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-1 defeat against Bishop's on the 31st. As for Hoover, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-8 loss against Southwest SD on the 29th.
