Valley View got a massive performance out of Aze Martinez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and two RBI. Those four hits gave Martinez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Gomez, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Valley View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Rancho Christian duked it out with Citrus Hill on Friday. The Eagles blew past the Hawks 14-1. Considering the Eagles have won 13 matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Cody Horner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Sean Downs was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Cylis Proffitt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Valley View's win bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Rancho Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 20-3.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Valley View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. However, it's not like Rancho Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .404. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
