The Santiago Cavaliers fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Loara Saxons on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Saxons 49-44. If Santiago hoped to take revenge for the 42-37 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Loara found their leader in underclassman Sophia Rangel, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Celine Tran, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Santiago's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Loara, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santiago will take on Los Amigos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Loara, they will be playing at home against Rancho Alamitos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
