The Latin Romans are taking a road trip to take on the St. Patrick Shamrocks at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Latin has three straight wins, St. Patrick has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Latin's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against North Shore Country Day as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Romans, who have now won three contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Drew Lufrano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Latin is undefeated when Lufrano posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Latin let Liam Calvert and Graham Snyder run wild. Calvert went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs, while Snyder went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Calvert is becoming a predictor of Latin's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Gus Karsh was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Latin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, St. Patrick started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Marist. They lost 14-5 to the RedHawks on Saturday.
St. Patrick's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Latin, their record now sits at 5-3.
Everything went Latin's way against St. Patrick when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Latin made off with an 8-1 win. Will the Romans repeat their success, or do the Shamrocks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
