Volleyball Recap: First Flight Falls Despite Big Games from Ashlyn Hux and Rylee Meyer

First Flight was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Manteo Redskins. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redskins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 last Tuesday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-11, 20-25, 25-14.

Rylee Meyer and Ashlyn Hux certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Meyer had 11 digs and two assists, while Hux had 13 digs and two aces. Meyer has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played. Avery Theissen also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

First Flight's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Manteo, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

First Flight has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Cape Hatteras on the 4th. As for Manteo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Hobgood Charter on the 4th.
