Mesa Verde has gone a perfect 3-0 against Highlands recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Mesa Verde will host Highlands at 4:00 p.m. Mesa Verde is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.4 runs per game this season.

Mesa Verde took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Valley Christian, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Mesa Verde came out on top in a nail-biter against Valley Christian on Saturday, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Mavericks, who have now won three contests in a row.

Mesa Verde's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Steven Pinola, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Pinola has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Meanwhile, Highlands came up short against Golden Sierra on Thursday, falling 23-6. The Scots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cristiano Showen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Highlands: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Rodrigo Pomposo, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Highlands' defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Mesa Verde, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.

Highlands' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mesa Verde hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. It's a different story for Highlands, though, as they've only averaged .217. Will they be able to contain Mesa Verde's hitters?

Everything went Mesa Verde's way against Highlands in their previous meeting back in March of 2016, as Mesa Verde made off with an 11-1 win. Does Mesa Verde have another victory up their sleeve, or will Highlands turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
