The Cottonwood Colts waltzed into their match on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top against Jordan by a score of 63-53. This was payback for Cottonwood, who suffered a 33-29 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Cottonwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alivia Hutton out in front who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hutton has scored all season. Ciel Budge was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Several Beetdiggers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tess Joseph, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Joseph is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Claire Todacheeny, who scored 15 points.
Cottonwood pushed their record up to 12-6 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Jordan, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cottonwood will square off against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Murray is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for Jordan, they will head out on the road to square off against the Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Tooele focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Wednesday.
