It was a good run, but the El Rancho Dons unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 43-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bell Gardens. The matchup was a 23-23 toss-up at halftime, but El Rancho was outscored by Bell Gardens in the second.
Despite the defeat, El Rancho saw an underclassman step up: Emery Riker dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. The game was Riker's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Emma Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
El Rancho's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Bell Gardens, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Rancho will take on Nogales at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Nogales is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Bell Gardens, they will be playing at home against El Monte at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. El Monte comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
