Silver Creek has gone 7-2 against Mt. Pleasant recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Raiders will face off against the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Silver Creek and San Jose, and Silver Creek kept the tradition alive. The Raiders put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 14-3 victory on Saturday.
Giovanni Mejia and Robert 'Bobby' Resendez made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Mejia struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Resendez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Mejia scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Resendez scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Nicholas Prum was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cayleb Duran, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Silver Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Pleasant). They blew past San Jose 19-2 on Thursday. The Cardinals have beaten the Bulldogs the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.
Nate Ortiz was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Ortiz was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Julian Saldana was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. He has become a key player for Mt. Pleasant: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise. Vincent Salcido was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Silver Creek is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.6 runs over those games. As for Mt. Pleasant, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Silver Creek has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .555. However, it's not like Mt. Pleasant struggles in that department as they've averaged .538. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Silver Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Pleasant in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 12-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
