The Mt. Carmel Sundevils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hoover.
When it comes to explaining why Mt. Carmel lost, one person who can't be blamed is Grace Weede. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Taylor Trias was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Mt. Carmel smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoover only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Jewel Parker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hoover, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds. Parker hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Myesha Frank, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Mt. Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Hoover, they pushed their record up to 13-11 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
Mt. Carmel will take on San Pasqual at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. San Pasqual has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15. As for Hoover, they will head out on the road to challenge High Tech SD at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
