Baseball Recap: Heritage's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Heritage blew Holy Spirit Prep out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Holy Spirit Prep got their revenge. The Hawks fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 8-6. The Hawks' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Heritage got a massive performance out of Asher Durham, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The Hawks are 2-1 when Durham posts two or more runs, but 4-11 otherwise. Jax Lathem also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Heritage's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-12. As for Holy Spirit Prep, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-6 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heritage will host Redan at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Holy Spirit Prep, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against St. Mary's Academy at 4:30 p.m. The Bobcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.9 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
