The Palmdale Falcons will take on the Vasquez Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Highland hit Palmdale with a four-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 9-2. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Benjamin Cisneros was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Vasquez entered their tilt with Faith Baptist on Wednesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over the Contenders. Considering the Mustangs have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Luke Real made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon McGriff, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Joshua Bauer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Vasquez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Vasquez's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Palmdale, their loss dropped their record down to 6-17.
Palmdale couldn't quite get it done against Vasquez in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 as they fell 12-8. Will the Falcons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
