The Kennedy Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Kennedy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Kennedy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 17-5 margin over Johnson on Friday. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Laney Fukuoka made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Diego Avalos-Daniels, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Another player making a difference was Oliver Parkinson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Kennedy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while Cosumnes Oaks put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for El Dorado. Cosumnes Oaks came out on top against El Dorado by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolfpack needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Aaron Jeremic tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Cosumnes Oaks let Izzy Davis and Jay McIntrye run wild. Davis scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while McIntrye went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Kennedy's record now sits at 3-6. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Kennedy's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. Kennedy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Cosumnes Oaks, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Kennedy continue to outrun the ball?
Kennedy might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Cosumnes Oaks when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Kennedy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
