The Marshall Eagles stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They blew past El Monte 54-12 on the road. Given Marshall's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 380th, while the Lions are ranked 1270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marshall's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Camille Rodriguez, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rodriguez has scored all season. Elizabeth Ekpo was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Marshall has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for El Monte, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-17.
Marshall's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Mountain View is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. El Monte does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
