The Mira Monte Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 12th straight loss. They were beaten by Arvin 63-24. Mira Monte was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-13.
Arvin had a senior duo take command as Roxana Fernandez almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals and Emily Soto scored 12 points along with five assists and five steals. Fernandez has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marianna Ortiz, who scored 11 points.
Mira Monte's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-15. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.4 points per game. As for Arvin, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-10.
Mira Monte does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Arvin will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Tehachapi at 6:30 p.m. on February 8th.
