For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Mt. Vernon and West Delaware have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Mustangs never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Hawks on Wednesday, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Mt. Vernon's win bumped their record up to 26-11. As for West Delaware, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 21-11.

Looking ahead, Mt. Vernon will head out to square off against Lisbon on Monday. The Lions will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Delaware, they will challenge South Tama County on Monday. The Hawks are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
