Erie has gone a perfect 4-0 against Fairview recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Erie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
Erie is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Frederick, who was ranked 21st at the time (Erie was ranked 13th). The Tigers blew past the Golden Eagles 14-1 on Tuesday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Sophee Horovitz tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Keyanna Reeves was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Braelen Heer was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Erie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Meanwhile, Fairview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Northfield, falling 14-4.
Julia Savage made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Dangott, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
Erie's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Fairview, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.
Fairview's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Erie has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Fairview, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Erie's sizable advantage in that area, the Knights will need to find a way to close that gap.
Erie took their victory against Fairview in their previous meeting back in August by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
