Watsonville has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Watsonville Wildcatz and the Coronado Cougars will round out the year against one another at TBD on Thursday at. Hopefully Watsonville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 two weeks ago.
Two weeks ago, Watsonville earned a 42-34 victory over Soledad.
Fernanda Lazo was the offensive standout of the match as she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Love, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, after only 15 points in their last match, Coronado made sure to put some points up on the board against Rodriguez on Thursday. Coronado breezed by Rodriguez on the road to the tune of 63-24. Coronado's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Coronado found their leader in underclassman Scarlet Lopez, who scored 20 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Lopez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Harmony Rogers was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Watsonville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Coronado, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
