For the first time this season, South Granville will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
South Granville made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Knightdale, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Vikings fell just short of the Knights by a score of 38-35 last Friday. The Vikings were up 22 in the second, but they couldn't quite seal the deal.

South Granville might have lost, but man, Jaylen Wilkerson was a machine: he rushed for 180 yards and two TDs while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Wilkerson is now averaging an impressive 101.6 rushing yards per game.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Timmy Stubbs for the heroic effort on defense: he. South Granville didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.4.
South Granville's defensive line didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Ellis Robinson refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
Meanwhile, Cedar Ridge played a tough contest last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 62-19 loss at the hands of Northwest Halifax. The Fighting Red Wolves were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
South Granville will have to keep a close watch on Matthew Asay and Mason Hughes, a pair of players who had a big impact on Cedar Ridge's prior game. Asay threw for 212 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 passes, while Hughes picked up 107 receiving yards.
South Granville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Cedar Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. South Granville has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 165.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cedar Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 185.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
