Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2022-23 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Jerzy Robinson of
Desert Vista (Phoenix) is the 2022-23 MaxPreps Arizona High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year. The 5-foot-11 freshman guard led the Thunder to a 28-3 record and the inaugural Open Division state championship.
For the season, Robinson averaged 22.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. She scored 21 points in a 63-37 win over Millennium (Goodyear) in the title game after putting up 32 in the semifinals against Xavier College Prep (Phoenix).
