Basketball Recap: Bard Takes a Loss

On Wednesday, Bard faced Banneker in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Bard Falcons were beaten by the Banneker Bulldogs 80-50. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 70-35 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Bard's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jalani Godbolt, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 11 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, and Andre Wright, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 17 points. That was a full 34% of Bard's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel Pyles, who put up five points.

Even though they lost, Bard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Bard now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Banneker, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Bard will host Woodson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Banneker, they will venture away from home to take on Cardozo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cardozo's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
