Even though the North Buncombe Black Hawks scored an imposing 56 points on Wednesday, the McDowell Titans still came out on top. McDowell strolled past North Buncombe with points to spare, taking the game 72-56. Given McDowell's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while North Buncombe is ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rylan Parkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points. Eli Elliott was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Several Black Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carson Brown, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Trent Clark, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
McDowell's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for North Buncombe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Enka the next time they take the court. McDowell will host Enka at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while North Buncombe will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
