The Leuzinger Olympians scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 73-56 win over Shadow Hills. Winning may never get old, but Leuzinger sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
It was another big night for Madison Watts, who dropped a double-double on 43 points and 13 rebounds. The game was her 16th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dresha Moore, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds.
Victoria Hyatt and Analiah Cardona certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Hyatt scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and six assists, while Cardona scored 17 points along with five steals. Hyatt scored a full 41.1% of Shadow Hills' points, the 13th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylah Archer, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Leuzinger has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Shadow Hills, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-3.
Leuzinger's road trip will continue as they head out to face Centennial at 5:00 p.m. on January 3rd. Centennial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1090th, while Leuzinger is ranked 24th). Shadow Hills and Roosevelt will face off at 12:30 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Roosevelt knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Shadow Hills likes a good challenge.
