Hellgate hasn't had much luck against Big Sky recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Knights will host the Eagles at 12:00 p.m. Hellgate has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Hellgate lost 11-3 to Butte on Monday.
Hellgate saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaelynn Hopfauf, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Nat Blaney also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Big Sky faced Butte in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 13-3 win. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Sara Bjornson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Hailey Nicoson and Elise Regan did most of the damage at the plate: Nicoson went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double, while Regan went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Regan a new career-high. Hayden Weaver was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Big Sky lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Butte didn't launched any.
Hellgate's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Big Sky, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Hellgate suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Big Sky in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
