After three games on the road, Oswayo Valley is heading back home. They will take on the Smethport Hubbers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Friday, things could have been worse for Oswayo Valley, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 32-18 loss to Otto-Eldred.
Meanwhile, Smethport's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 36-27 to Austin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Smethport in their matchups with Austin: they've now lost three in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Elizabeth Hungiville, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds. Hungiville is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaidyn Goodman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Oswayo Valley's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4. As for Smethport, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.
Oswayo Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Smethport in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 42-34. Will Oswayo Valley repeat their success, or does Smethport have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
