The Xavier Prep Saints put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 47-28 win over Palm Desert. Given Xavier Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Palm Desert is ranked 620th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Amoree Ferrel, who went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 3 assists. The contest was her tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaden Williams, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Despite the defeat, Palm Desert saw an underclassman step up: Katelyn Gallagher dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 steals. Gallagher scored a full 42.9% of Palm Desert's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Tethal, who scored ten points.
Xavier Prep's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Palm Desert, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.
Xavier Prep will head out on the road to face off against United Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Palm Desert, they will be playing at home against Redlands at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
