The Nipomo Titans will head out on the road to take on the Morro Bay Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Nipomo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Nipomo proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Santa Ynez 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Titans have posted since April 30, 2024.

Logan Hobbs was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season.
In other batting news, Griffin Groshart was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ozzy Ortega also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Nipomo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Morro Bay waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Bulldogs 17-0. Considering the Pirates have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Evan Davis looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Morro Bay let Quentin Crotts and Joseph Skaggs run wild. Crotts went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Skaggs scored three runs while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Deovlet, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Morro Bay pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Nipomo, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.
