West is 1-9 against South since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. West will be playing at home against South at 4:00 p.m. South took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on West, who comes in off a win.
While West's victory against North wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. West narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past North 12-10. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Josh Camacho and Eric Lleyva did most of the damage at the plate: Camacho went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Lleyva scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four RBI gave Camacho a new career-high.
West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, South was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They came up short against Tehachapi, falling 14-2. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost seven in a row.
Jose Bojorquez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Bojorquez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Tomas Encinas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.
West's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-8. As for South, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-3.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. West has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like South struggles in that department as they've averaged .525. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
