The Mariner Marauders will be playing at home against the Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Monday, Mariner was beaten by Rogers 92-51. Mariner was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-18.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Marysville-Pilchuck, who are still winless after their fifth game. They were dealt a 81-52 defeat at the hands of Shorecrest on Monday. While losing is never fun, Marysville-Pilchuck can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Shorecrest is ranked 143rd).
This is the second loss in a row for Mariner and nudges their season record down to 0-3-1. As for Marysville-Pilchuck, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5.
Everything came up roses for Mariner against Marysville-Pilchuck when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 78-44 win. Does Mariner have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marysville-Pilchuck turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
