The Yerba Buena Aztec Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Gunderson Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Yerba Buena will be strutting in after a victory while the Grizzlies will be coming in after a defeat.
Yerba Buena was handed a 46-point defeat in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against the Bulldogs on Thursday. Yerba Buena had just enough and edged the Bulldogs out 33-30. The win was just what Yerba Buena needed coming off of a 69-23 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Gunderson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 25-24 to James Lick.
Despite their defeat, Gunderson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chiemi Wong, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Wong has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Breanna Bartek, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and seven steals.
Yerba Buena's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Gunderson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Yerba Buena against the Grizzlies in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 46-19 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Yerba Buena since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
