The West Wilkes Blackhawks lost against the Surry Central Golden Eagles back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. West Wilkes was outmatched by Surry Central on the road and fell 83-50. West Wilkes was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-25.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Surry Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ayden Wilmoth, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Wilmoth hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Tripp Mcmillen was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
West Wilkes has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Surry Central, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
West Wilkes will take on Forbush at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forbush is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Surry Central, they will head out on the road to take on Wilkes Central at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
