The Golden Sierra Grizzlies have not lost a match since January 10th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They won by a goal and slipped past Woodland Christian 2-1. This was payback for Golden Sierra, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Allie Lewis and
Jayla Martin, who scored both of Golden Sierra's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 28 so far this season.
Golden Sierra pushed their record up to 8-9-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those six matches. As for Woodland Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-2-2.
Golden Sierra will head out on the road to take on Vacaville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Vacaville Christian will be up against Golden Sierra's rather soft defense (which has allowed 2.93 goals per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing. As for Woodland Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Esparto at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Woodland Christian's last five contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
