The Wheatland Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Winters Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Wheatland had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Oroville on Tuesday. The Pirates never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Brodey Stidman looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Brodee Malecha was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jordan James also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Wheatland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Winters came out on top against Armijo on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Warriors blew past the Royals 12-2. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Warriors' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Jordan Calvert was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Calvert was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tracy Kalish, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Joe Hawkins was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Winters' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Wheatland, their record is now 4-0.
Winters' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wheatland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .414. It's a different story for Winters, though, as they've only averaged .222. Will they be able to contain Wheatland's hitters?
Everything went Wheatland's way against Winters in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as Wheatland made off with an 11-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
