Even though the Oakmont Vikings have not done well against the Placer Hillmen recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Oakmont skirted past Placer 45-43. The win was all the more spectacular given Oakmont's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 788th, while Placer is ranked 363rd).
Sophia Bodnar was a one-man wrecking crew for Oakmont as she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Bodnar also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Lily Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
Oakmont's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-16. As for Placer, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-13.
Oakmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Placer also has no future games currently scheduled.
