Baseball Recap: University Prep Drops Season-High Score on Anderson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask University Prep). They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Anderson Cubs on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Tristin Raglin and Lane Powell made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Raglin pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Powell struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Raglin has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Raglin got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double, while Powell went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Powell a new career-high.

In other batting news, Luca Snell and Jack Ampi did most of the damage at the plate: Snell went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBI, while Ampi went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Those three hits gave Ampi a new career-high. Casey Wrathall was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

University Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anderson only posted an OBP of .333.

University Prep's record is now 17-8-1. As for Anderson, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Looking ahead, University Prep will head out on the road to take on Red Bluff at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Anderson will be paying especially close attention to the Panthers' contest: after the Panthers face off against the Spartans, they'll take on Anderson again at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
