The Mountain Empire Redhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by High Tech SD 64-12. Mountain Empire was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-5.
When it comes to explaining why Mountain Empire lost, one person who can't be blamed is Carli McGhee. Despite the final result, she scored eight points. That was a full 66.7% of Mountain Empire's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
It was another big night for Vivianna Cravens, who almost dropped a triple-double on 26 points, nine rebounds, and ten steals for High Tech SD. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cravens has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Della Hueramo, who scored ten points along with nine steals and five assists.
Mountain Empire has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for High Tech SD, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.
Mountain Empire will be playing in front of their home fans against Gompers Prep Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for High Tech SD, High Tech SD and Hoover will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hoover is on a three-game streak of home wins, High Tech SD a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
