Manteno is 8-2 against Peotone since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Panthers will face off against the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. Manteno is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
While Manteno's victory against Lisle wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers skirted past the Lions 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since May 6, 2025.
The team relied heavily on Tyler Buehler, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Logan Bufford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Peotone scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Kankakee by a score of 7-6. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Declan McMaster and Tavin Harshfield did some serious damage despite the final result: McMaster got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Harshfield went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Manteno's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Peotone, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Manteno's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Peotone, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Manteno continue to outrun the ball?
Manteno beat Peotone 5-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
