Meanwhile, Metamora came tearing into Monday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 7-4. That's two games straight that the Redbirds have won by exactly three runs.
Cole Smith was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Eli Young, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Limestone now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Metamora, their victory bumped their record up to 18-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Limestone has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Metamora struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
