Reed-Custer extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-15. They fell 8-3 to the Wilmington Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 on Tuesday.
Reed-Custer saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Isaac, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Wilmington, they pushed their record up to 13-4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games.
On Wilmington's side, Ryan Kettman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Kettman was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Declan Moran, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Cooper Holman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reed-Custer will host Streator at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wilmington, they will welcome Minooka at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
