The Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack will face off against the Kennedy Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Cosumnes Oaks' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against El Dorado by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolfpack needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Cosumnes Oaks got a great performance from Aaron Jeremic as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Cosumnes Oaks let Izzy Davis and Jay McIntrye run wild. Davis scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while McIntrye went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those three runs gave Davis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Bourtayre, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.
Cosumnes Oaks was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Dorado only posted a batting average of .105.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kennedy). They put the hurt on Johnson with a sharp 17-5 win on Friday. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Laney Fukuoka made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Fukuoka was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Diego Avalos-Daniels was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Oliver Parkinson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Kennedy and bumps their season record up to 3-6. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 12.5 hits in those games compared to only 5.29 in the others. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cosumnes Oaks has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Kennedy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Cosumnes Oaks' way against Kennedy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Cosumnes Oaks made off with a 9-3 victory. Does Cosumnes Oaks have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kennedy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
