It was a good run, but the Bishop Union Broncos unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 58-49 to Kern Valley. Bishop Union has not had much luck with Kern Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Henny Charley and Kristin Allen certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Charley scored 16 points along with two steals, while Allen scored 17 points. Charley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tannyr Ludwick, who scored six points.
Bishop Union struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Leading Kern Valley to victory were Jessie Bunting and Jayda Bushling. Bunting dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds, while Bushling dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bushling has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elli Jeans, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Bishop Union's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Kern Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Mammoth the next time they take the court. Kern Valley will head out to face Mammoth at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Bishop Union will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
